New Energy & Cyber Resilience Centre in Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh–WEF Collaboration

Andhra Pradesh government has partnered with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to create a Centre for Energy and Cyber Resilience in Visakhapatnam. The initiative aims to modernise the state’s electricity system and protect it from rising cyber risks and technical failures.

This collaboration was formally announced during the 30th CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s push to build a secure and future-ready power network.

Focus on Protecting Power Grids

The centre will mainly focus on preventing cyber attacks and protecting the electricity grid from operational disruptions. It will help in:

This will ensure a safer and more stable power supply for industries, businesses, and households.

Boost to Green Energy Goals

Andhra Pradesh has set a major renewable energy target of 160 GW green energy generation. With support from the WEF, the state aims to:

• Provide low-cost and high-quality electricity
• Reduce transmission losses
• Expand rooftop solar installations under national solar missions

The collaboration is expected to help the state become a major clean energy hub in India.

Technology Integration in Power Sector

The state plans to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies to:

• Improve power flow and grid monitoring
• Reduce wastage and inefficiencies
• Support renewable energy integration
• Ensure reliable electricity in urban and rural areas

Investment Commitments at the Summit

During the same summit, Andhra Pradesh received investment commitments worth ₹13 lakh crore, with an estimated potential to create 30 lakh jobs. Delegates from over 60 countries participated, highlighting growing interest in the state’s energy, industry, and technology sectors.
