DRDO Successfully Conducts Salvo Launch of Pralay Missile

India strengthened its tactical missile capability as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles off the coast of Odisha.

The test, conducted on December 31, 2025, marked an important milestone in user evaluation trials and demonstrated the missile system’s reliability under operational conditions.

Salvo Launch from Integrated Test Range

The salvo launch was carried out at around 10:30 am from the Integrated Test Range Chandipur. Both missiles were fired in quick succession from the same launcher, simulating real battlefield conditions.

According to DRDO, both Pralay missiles:

  • Followed their intended trajectories precisely
  • Met all predefined flight objectives
  • Validated key performance parameters

About the Pralay Missile System

Pralay is an indigenously developed solid-propellant quasi-ballistic missile, designed for high-precision conventional strikes. It is equipped with advanced guidance and navigation systems that allow accurate engagement of diverse targets.

Key capabilities:

  • Solid-propellant propulsion
  • Quasi-ballistic trajectory
  • Ability to carry different types of warheads
  • Enhances flexibility for India’s armed forces

The missile forms an important part of India’s conventional deterrence framework.

Tracking, Telemetry and Mission Validation

During the test, advanced tracking sensors continuously monitored the missile flight paths. Terminal events were independently validated using telemetry systems installed on a ship positioned near the designated impact zones.

DRDO confirmed that:

  • Both missiles performed exactly as expected
  • All mission objectives were successfully achieved
  • The test strengthened confidence in the system’s operational readiness

Multi-Agency Collaboration and Services’ Presence

The successful test involved coordinated efforts from multiple DRDO laboratories, including:

  • Research Centre Imarat
  • Defence Research and Development Laboratory
  • Advanced Systems Laboratory

Integration and production support was provided by:

  • Bharat Dynamics Limited
  • Bharat Electronics Limited

Senior scientists and representatives from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force were present during the trial.
