This was the second edition of the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar. A total of 24 awards were presented across four categories, designed on the lines of the Padma awards.

Vigyan Ratna Awarded Posthumously
The Vigyan Ratna, the highest honour under the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, was awarded posthumously to eminent physicist Jayant Vishnu Narlikar.
He was recognised for his lifetime achievements, pioneering work in cosmology, and his contribution to science communication, reflecting the award’s emphasis on long-term scientific impact.

- Vigyan Shri: Awarded to eight scientists for distinguished contributions in fields such as agricultural science, atomic energy, chemistry, environmental science, mathematics, and space technology.
- Vigyan Yuva: Fourteen young scientists were honoured for promising work in physics, medicine, earth science, and technological innovation.
- Vigyan Team: Conferred on the CSIR-led Aroma Mission team for collective contributions to agricultural science and rural livelihoods.
